Seluruh dosen Departemen Ilmu Ekonomi dan Studi Pembangunan, Fakultas Ekonomika dan Bisnis, otomatis adalah dosen di Program Studi Magister Ilmu Ekonomi. Namun demikian, untuk proses pembelajaran ketentuan mengatur bahwa untuk memberikan kuliah di tingkat master minimal harus bergelar Doktor (Strata 3). Selain dosen dari Departemen IESP, terdapat juga dosen-dosen lintas Program Studi maupun lintas Fakultas, dan memungkinkan juga untuk dosen dari institusi luar sesuai dengan keahliannya.
Saat ini dosen yang mengajar di Program Studi Magister Ilmu Ekonomi adalah alumni dari universitas terkemuka baik nasional maupun internasional. Sekitar 70 persen dosen mempunyai gelas doktor dari luar negeri, antara lain Australia, Jerman, Perancis, Belanda dan Malaysia. Komposisi ini menjamin proses pembelajaran yang berkualitas dan efektif.
