One of the important issues in economic research is productivity and efficiency analysis. This analysis can be applied in many disciplines, but is growing very rapidly for economic research. Unfortunately, among the academic community in Indonesia, this issue has not been explored and utilized optimally.

In the field of economics, all scientific disciplines can use this analysis to see the level of productivity and efficiency of a sector or field and the determining factors. This factor is very broad, not only the individual characteristics of the unit of measurement, but also government policies, the economic environment both nationally and internationally.

This productivity and efficiency measurement technique has developed very rapidly, using both non-stochastic and stochastic methods. Likewise, the functional form used, starting from the approach to the production function, cost function and profit function. Next is how to apply it in economic research and integrate it into economic theory.

The complexity of this measurement method and application makes it difficult for the academic community to understand the basic and fundamental issues. This may also be one of the reasons why the use of this issue for economic research in academics is still not optimal. In addition, there are limited forums that provide opportunities for academics to study this issue in depth.

Recognizing the importance of the issue of productivity and efficiency analysis in Economics research, as well as responding to the latest developments, Masters of Economics Study Program, Diponegoro University held a series of Scientific Discussions entitled “Productivity and Efficiency Analysis in Economic Research”. This series program is expected to be able to facilitate students and the academic community, especially in the Faculty of Economics and Business Undip in expanding their mastery of economic research methodologies, especially in responding to the latest scientific developments. This Scientific Discussion will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, online from 08.00 – 12.00 WIB.
